Telehealth made huge strides in 2017 including expanding in rural markets allowing patients to connect to their physicians much easier than before. University of Iowa Medical Center was among the many hospitals in 2017 that opened multiple rural locations that have the ability to link patients with physicians whether it be in a nursing home, small medical center or something as time sensitive as stroke care. Other networks went even further with integrating with pharmacies.

“They also forged alliances with pharmacy chains, opening the hospital’s own pharmacy services to outside management while placing kiosks, telehealth stations and other branded services inside popular retail locations.”
